Essential Add Ons
« on: Friday, 06 Nov 2009, 14:38:49 »
Which add ons do you consider essential to raiding?

For me:

Skada, although any damage meter would probably do. As a DPS your main role is damage, how do you know how well your doing or where your going wrong if you have no way of seeing it?

STUF unit frames. The best thing about this isn't the unit frames is the "extras" so it does what several add ons will do. Gives me range of target and focus, threat of target and focus, buff/debuff timers on player, target and focus and raid frames if needed.

Power Aura. Don't think i could track all my procs and cooldowns with just a blizz ui. So customisable.

Although I'd miss many others I think i could manage with just these three.

I'd say as a destro warlock you hardly need anything.
As affli though, I use NeedToKnow to keep track of my dots and such, and i think it is pretty much essential to have a DoT addon for Affli.

OMEN MUCH?

Shouldn't we just blame the tank for not doing enough threat?

I tried Skada too, but the fact that it does not support player profiles SUCKS. Also, Recount has alot more geeky stuff like showing DPS graphs, integrating the DPS on the time factor(so you can see the total damage done), normalising the graph, comparing several graphs, etc :D You can also inspect how a player died (and thus not blame a player who died in rocket for dying in pewX2 :D).

I also find bartender VERY useful with his key binding function, PowerAuras for buff/debuff tracking, Elkano BuffBars for advanced buff/debuff tracking.

Another VERY important addon is Pitbull. It is very modular and provides the best results with the least amount of configuration out there (XPerl may beat it on this chapter though).

Finally, for CD tracking I use forte Xorcist, as it helps managing my CDs and dots/procs/effects.

Oh: and I also LOVE OPIE!!!11!ONEELEVEN

pretty much use what Hook said also, except I prefer dominos over bartender.

Power Aura's is a must! if you look at my UI in the show UI topic, you can see the white shield, pops up when I have borrowed time for 25% haste, using that is a must as disc priest, power aura's is the best way to track it ^^.

And ye, ForteXorcist!

I will have to go with NeedToKnow (Classtimer as well, i use ntk just for my main 3 dots, classtimer for all other things i would be interested in), Bartender (really easy to make a tidy ui by hiding some bars, easy binding), recount (for seeing % of spells in total damage and deaths and to push your buttons harder if you get too low ;D), Omen (yea you know...), FroteX (cds, really nice one), Pitbull (customizable, seems hard at the beginning but gets really nice once you get the hang of it, it really has some nice extra things, see hook`s comment), ScrollingCombatText (custom events mostly, helps with procs/stacks/storm power ;D , i prefer it over power auras, since i don`t have any "OMG HUGE DPS" procs, just shadow weaving, i can see when i gain stacks and how many, and healing, outgoing and incoming damage etc), Decursive is a must have for many encounters, and Grid + Clique for healing usually, ElaknoBuffBars (for what hook said though i cba to "advancely" configure them yet :p) and bossmod. Obituary is also nice to see killing blows on players.

I feel so add`on dependent, i wouldn`t bare to raid without any of those, i`m going to stop here for now :D.

Kinda long sentence there...oops, sorry.

<3

I couldn't live without Omen, NeedToKnow (EventHorizon on my Shaman), PowerAuras, some kind of raid frames (I use sRaidFrames), BuffEnough, ForteXorcist and Bagnon.

Orbituary is great, I also use Bartender and Pitbull but I could play without them if I had to.
