Scam email from 'battle.net'

There's an email doing the rounds, I just recieved one myself. It's claiming some changes have been made to your battle.net account. The email is a scam because the sender is from an aol.com email account; masked to look like an official blizzard address.


Here's the content of the email
Subject: Battle.net Account - Contact Information Updated

?Hello <name>,

This is an automated notification regarding your Battle.net account. Some or all of your contact information was recently modified through Battle.net Account Management. If you recently made changes to your account information, please disregard this automatic notification.

You can log in to Account Management at the following link to review your account settings: <URL REMOVED>

If you cannot sign into Account Management using the link above, or if unauthorized changes continue to occur, click here for answers to Frequently Asked Questions or contact the Blizzard Billing & Account Services team.

Account security is solely the responsibility of the account holder. Please be advised that in the event of a compromised account, Blizzard representatives will typically lock the account. In these cases the Account Administration team will require faxed receipt of ID materials before releasing the account for play.

Aye. I received a couple of these emails as well. Also, BEWARE not to visit links provided in the e-mail like http://eu.battle.net EVEN if the mail seems to be sent from Blizzard (header forging is not a very hard thing to do ). Always check the URL you are being redirected to.

Also, I highly recommend using Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome. Both of them contain filters that will warn you in case that you visit any phishing sites or virus swarming pages.

i use mozilla firefox and i gto one of these emails

The browser doesn't affect you getting email, but it helps to avoid getting your computer infected.
